Privacy principles

A pilot privacy statement for the NaijaGauge MVP.

Before public launch: this must be converted into a formal privacy notice reflecting the actual hosting provider, OTP provider, retention periods, legal basis, controller identity and contact details.

Data minimisation

NaijaGauge should collect only information needed to verify participation, prevent duplicate voting, segment results at an appropriate level and operate the service securely.

Verification information

Email addresses are processed to provide secure verification. Vote records should use a separate participant identifier rather than storing the raw email address alongside the selected poll option.

Location information

The pilot asks whether a respondent lives in Nigeria or the diaspora and may ask for a state or country. It should not require precise GPS location for ordinary polling.

Published results

Public dashboards display aggregated results. Individual identities and individual voting choices should not be published.

Fraud prevention

Security signals such as device, network and request-rate information may be processed to detect automated or abusive activity. These signals should be used proportionately and should not be presented publicly as voter identity data.

No sale of voter identities

NaijaGauge's intended commercial model is based on aggregated polling and research insights, not the sale of participant email addresses or named voting histories.
